Secondhand books become tiny canvases for florals, fruit and wonderfully colorful patterns. Chloe paints the top, bottom and side page edges by hand, leaving the covers and spine as they are.

02 / THE BOOK’S LITTLE OUTFIT

Meet the Bookini.

A tiny bikini-inspired crochet accessory, made for your book. With scalloped edges and floral details, each one brings a little playfulness to a standard hardcover or paperback.

Approximately 7.5 × 5 inches, with stretch. Around 1.5 hours of crochet in every piece.

It starts with a pre-loved book, sourced with care for the best available condition. Reusing an existing copy gives it a new lease on life.

A little imagination

Florals, fruit, colors and cover-inspired ideas find their way onto the page edges. Every design is individually painted, usually over 2–4 hours.

Ready for its next reader

Acrylic paint and sealant finish the edges. The front cover, back cover and spine stay unpainted, and the book remains readable.

Beautiful on the shelf. Still a book at heart.

Every painted edge and crochet stitch is a chance to give a book its own personality. Pre-loved copies bring their own history; Chloe adds a little color to their next chapter.
